Take the Leap and be Gracious | The Apex Blog | Jan Almasy

Take the Leap.

You heard me. Do it.

I’m going to tell a story today because I have been feeling so unbelievably grateful in the past month that I can’t hold it back any longer. I want you to understand that no matter how much you’re doubting yourself, that if you’re willing to take that first step… you just might make it.

In August of 2017, a high school age student committed suicide in my local area. After this suicide, Stark County experiences over six suicides in six months...

All high school students..

The county was in a fog. You could feel the sadness hanging over the land with every news report that came out.

So... In September of that year, I looked at my roommate Jacob Sowers and we decided that we we’re going to start reaching out. We began writing blog posts in collaboration with another friend of mine (Dominic Dundee) and posting them to Facebook.

This we called “JJD Thoughts”

Fast forward to present day. Although I no longer work with Jacob and Dominic, I found a new partnership in Jacob Popio and RJ Holliday. From the beginning of 2019, we have taken a podcast from barely a hundred listeners a month, to being ranked in the Top 1000 Podcasts in the Self-Help Category on ITunes.

I get messages every day from people that appreciate the shows we release, and the blogs I write.

They tell me that the podcast “made me feel like someone else cares” or that “they’re happy to know they aren’t alone”

In 2017 I took a leap of faith and decided that I was going to set out to bring positivity back to my county, and now my team and I will be working to produce a new show titled “We Heart Stark: Stories is Stark County”

Sowers, I always told you that I would do my best to honor that original mission that we came up with in the living room of my cheap college apartment.

To always provide a positive light to people that need to hear it, and to highlight ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things.

I hope this new show does just that, and as for The Apex Podcast... I am in awe.

Thank you all for believing in us even when we didn’t believe in ourselves.

We won’t let you down.
